Happy Four-Month Birthday!

Today our little Georgine is four months old. We all went to a nice baby store out here called Great Beginnings to look at carseats. They will let you put your baby in all the seats and will take the seats outside with you to see how they fit in your car. We are in the midst of picking out a new car seat, so it was the perfect service. And now that we know what we want, we can order on Amazon. Sorry Great Beginnings! Acutally, don't feel bad for them -- they still got nearly 100 bucks out of us.

Georgie decided that for her 4-month birthday she wanted a Bumbo seat. We thought these were silly and haven't even thought of getting one. But Nikki put Georgie in it and it made her so happy. So happy that people in the store were stopping and laughing at how much fun she was having. So we had to get it. She also has outgrown a lot of onesies so she got a few more of those in a larger size (including the bear one pictured above).

It was a very social birthday for Georgie. First a woman who spoke no English held her while Nikki spoke to the woman's daughter in broken Spanish . Then the service manager woman, who had previously been pretty short with me, just melted in front of Georgie. She was a grandmother herself so she knew lots of goo-goo ga-ga type of tricks and got rewarded with lots of smiles from Georgie. At the baby store, in addition to the Bumbo Show, she had lots of one-to-one interactions with other parents. She seemed to enjoy the stimulation.

4-month review, from Nikki:
This month she discovered rolling over (back to tummy, tummy to back), that her hands can grab things as well as gather things in toward her, splashing with her feet, pulling grass out of the ground (and she does NOT like it when I move her because I'm afraid of ants getting on her), airplane travel, petting Aslan (she at least touched Aslan, on purpose), pulling on her toes and playing with her feet, going to concerts, and laughing. She also got a little better at riding in her car seat, now that she's more engaged with her toys and can play in her car seat, and she seems to really like standing up, now that she can balance by herself a little better.

The past few days, her smiles seem to be more communicative. She'll do things like look at the cat, look at me, smile at me, touch the cat, look back and smile at me. Simple moments like that are more fulfilling than anything else I've ever done.
