We managed to make it to the park this morning before it rained; here are a couple pictures. One of the pictures below is pretty blurry, but I liked it so put it up anyway.

More weekend shopping

It's not very original on Black Friday weekend, but Georgie and I went shopping each day of this 3-day weekend. Yesterday, we started our morning at Target. We weren't shopping for presents so much as basic stuff. But shopping with Georgie is really fun no matter what you're shopping for. We spent quite a while in Target, talking about the things on the shelf and telling and re-telling the story of Goldilocks (her newest obsession). After Target, we had a breakfast burrito together. Then it was off to a few stores to look for a winter coat. Still no luck.
After a while, we went home and picked up Nikki and then went to REI to continue the coat hunt. We didn't find one but did have a lot of fun trying out this bicycle. She doesn't quite have it down yet but is close.

Happy Thanksgiving, part two

Due to scheduling conflicts, our real Thanksgiving was yesterday.

Georgie woke up in a really good mood. We played around the house a little and then her and I went shopping while Nikki got some food ready and had some time to herself.

I took Georgie to IKEA, where the doorbuster deal was free breakfast. I got one and Georgie got one. :)

When we got to the kids section, we found out that they also have toy kitchens to play with there. So Georgie played with her second kitchen of the day.

Georgie can't pass up a big girl bed without wanting to lay in it. I think that means we need to look into getting her a big girl bed.

We still haven't found Georgie a winter coat, in part because they all seem to look like this one at Target.

After Georgie's nap, it was time to go over to Rachelle, Lubo, and Milena's for our dinner. I roasted a duck and made Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. Nikki brought pear crisp and homemade shortbread cookies for dessert. Rachelle and Lubo made some great broiled scallops, marinated mushrooms, broccoli casserole, and beer cheese for an appetizer.

Georgie and Milena were too excited (and too filled up on crackers) to eat with us for very long. They instead read books, laid on the couch, and did some dancing.

Thanks to Rachelle and Lubo for hosting us and for making such great food.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a low-key holiday today. I have to work tonight so we moved our festivities to Saturday. So today we made lasagna. It was a nice foggy morning so we took a walk around the neighborhood. Georgie's starting to understand that Santa Claus exists, is bringing her presents, and will reveal them at Nana and Grandpapa's house. Now I'm watching UT beat the cheers out of the aggies.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for this year that I don't even know where to start.

National Building Museum

I ventured out with Georgie today to the Building Museum. We got there early, so there weren't very many kids there.

There was a big dollhouse to play with...

and an even bigger house....

Frying Pan again

We were all up early today so we hit the road and arrived at the farm park before they even opened. Georgie was excited as ever to see the pigs. Today we also got to see a lot of horses, as they were having some kind of horse show. We also saw all the usuals -- pigs, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, and peacocks. Georgie likes the pigs most of all. If you ask her, she'll tell you where they go peepee (on the ground).

Here's Georgie giving a piece of straw to a rabbit, trying to get him to eat it. We are amazed (and a little nervous but very happy) at how comfortable she is with animals.

The farm park also has a nice playground and we got to play on that some.

Playground today

One of the new things Georgie did at the park today was to throw sticks and rocks and a blue cup down the slides. She loved it.

One more video

In case it's not obvious, all the talk of 'swallowing' stems from the prune juice all over Georgie's face.

Farm Park Again

This morning Georgie and I went to the farm park again. Georgie has been talking about the animals she saw last time, especially the pigs, and was very excited to see them again -- this is the first picture I took, when she first got to look at the pigs today. My favorite picture from today.

And a couple more; the second one below is her smile-for-the-camera smile. Sometimes she smiles like that spontaneously, but she did this one as soon as I pointed the camera at her.

We also saw bunnies, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, horses, cows, calves, and sheep.

We really missed having Aaron there with us, and hopefully we can all go next time.

Thursday video

I really should post transcripts for these videos, especially when they are so long. But this one is basically Georgie talking about her new obsession - lullabies - and also accusing her papa of begging for food like a dog. There are a few moments where were not sure what she's saying. If you'd care to hazard a guess, feel free.

Monday

Today it was in the 60s so we had a nice little stroll. There are still a lot of leaves and acorns (and mud) on the ground to play with so Georgie is happy.

Georgie was really excited to find this mud. And we were really excited to make sure that it was mud and not something else.

I was watching Georgie instead of the camera screen so I wound up with this 'Kilroy was here' shot.

After a while Georgie laid down on the bench and "played nap" so it was time to go.

Santa comes (very) early

I realize that it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but we gave Georgie her main Christmas present today. It's a play kitchen. She got it so early for two reasons: 1. We'll be having Christmas in Texas, so we can't have her open it on Christmas morning anyway, and 2. Due to H1N1 we've really scaled back how much playground/playgroup time she gets and we kind of feel bad for her.

Well, she likes it quite a bit. In fact, she literally played with it all morning, over 5 hours straight. She did quite a bit of dishes and also cooked us tortillas and pasta. She makes tortillas in a sauce pan in the oven. It's a special kind.

Speaking of H1N1, we managed to get Georgie vaccinated yesterday and now all three of us have gotten the shot. Georgie will need a booster in a month though. She's too young for the mist version, so we ended up going all the way to North Carolina for the kind she needs. We left Friday at 2pm, stayed in a hotel in Henderson, NC, then got to the clinic 25 miles from there at 6:30am and were the 4th ones in line. We were done by 8:30am and home by 1pm. It was a whirlwind but much worth it for the peace of mind.

In other news, my brother Adam finished his first marathon today (the Rock N Roll San Antonio Marathon). We are very proud of him.
