New Park

Today Georgie and I went to a great park -- it was HUGE (2 acres) and had rubbering for the floor throughout. It has several gym things with slides, swings, toy cars and toy animals kids can sit on and bounce, an area where kids can race each other, and lots more. It was cool out this morning and we went early, so she wore pants and long sleaves at first. There was also a carousel that Georgie didn't really know what to think of (although she did say "Horsie" and point to the carousel when we walked by it when we were playing).

Weekend Recap

We had a pretty low-key weekend. On Friday night we ran around outside with the wagon.

On Saturday, Aaron and Georgie played for a while and went to the mall to look around while I did some work. This morning before it got hot, we went to the park. There were 2 really nice kids (8 and 2) there that Georgie played with.

Friday morning

It was overcast and cooler today, a good day for the park. In the bottom one, she's watching 2 kids play in a tunnel, sorry you can barely see her face.

I finally cooked a dish Georgie liked this week.... red lentil curry ... a good recipe I found online.

A couple photos from the park yesterday and the National Building Museum (which has a great play area) today.

A few photos from Monday

A few pics from today. I wanted to get some photos of her in this dress, another hand-me-down, before she outgrows it.

Sunday staycation

We didn't do anything too fancy today but somehow had a blast anyway. We started our morning at the farmer's market that's just down the street from our house. We, surprisingly, have never been before. This one is seasonal and the main Arlington is year-round. The main one also has more (and generally better) vendors so we just kind of got it in our heads that that's our market. But you can't beat a market you can walk to so that's what we did.

The produce selections weren't great but I was surprised to find two different meat options. In addition to a grass-fed beef place, our favorite bison producers were there. So I bought some ground bison and some pork cutlets. We also split an outrageously overpriced empanada and got a half gallon of goat's milk for Georgie (her new favorite).

After the market we hit a few local Goodwill stores, looking for dressers. We've been lucky to get a lot of hand-me-down clothes for Georgie lately but they're overflowing our apartment. We didn't find anything good though.

So then it was off to Target, where we got Georgie a much needed new array of utensils and dishes and cups. She has really mastered the straw now (see above) and, in our insane quest to keep her as hydrated as possible, we are excited about any new development in this area. So she got a few straw-cup things and some replacement sippy cups. Without a dishwasher, sippy cups perpetually taste like soap after a while.

Other than that, I can't really account for my time today. All I know is I had a great time just hanging out with the two super-est people I know.

Saturday evening

Tonight we went out to eat at Ted's Montana Grill, the same place Aaron and Georgie went last week. They brought me this time. We all had a lot of fun.

She loved eating ketchup, or rather, sucking it off fries.

Lots of shots of Aaron and Georgie, because I had the camera for most of dinner :)

Arlington County Fair

This weekend is Arlington's county fair. We've been very excited about it, though we strongly leaned toward not going today because we thought it would be too hot and we'd have trouble finding parking. It was kind of hot but we found a spot easily so we took it as a sign. Besides, it's easy to beat the heat with some lemonade (and funnel cake):
Our county is totally urban, but they cart in animals from another county. So Georgie was able to get her first pony ride. It's good timing, because lately she's constantly hopping up on my legs and saying, "Horsie, horsie." So it was time to see what a real horse was like. I think she prefers the papa horse though.

She was definitely apprehensive at first.

But got into it a little bit.
But about halfway through her ride she said "off," so that was that. She's got some work to do to catch up with her Arizona cousins.

Then we went to the midway, where Georgie and I picked a shark fishing game. My dad and brother recently went shark fishing and caught a shark each. Well, I caught two. I had a really good fishing helper though.

We were able to trade our two sharks in for a yellow seahorse.

Then we went to the petting zoo, where we saw a goat kid.

Which Georgie lunged for.
I think we are looking at ducks here.

Nikki wouldn't come on the Ferris wheel so I instead took Georgie down this giant slide.
