Friday at Falls Church

Another community center play session -- this time in Falls Church. There were balls everywhere and Georgie really enjoyed picking them up.

Afterwards we went to the playground outside and took advantage of the warm weather.

A nice lady happened by and offered to take some family portraits. Note the requisite lens smudge.

Thursday afternoon

Georgie and I took a little walk to our wooded area yesterday. Some pictures....

Zoo

The Seifert Hobbins family went to the Zoo today. We stupidly came hungry so went spent the majority of our time there making our way to the restaurant on the opposite side of the zoo.

This is a Przewalski Horse.

Georgie was the only one smart enough to bring her own food.

She would like to share with you.

After satisfying our appetites, we headed for the farm animal section. We stared at this cow for a while, then petted a very friendly donkey. We also saw 6 goats, including 2 very cute Nigerian Pygmies.

Pretty soon Georgie started to get drowsy.

And then fell asleep.

Here are a couple of animal videos:

Here's meercats looking for a way out of their winter weather enclosure.

And here's an orangutan. They have a pretty neat set-up at the National Zoo for the orangutans. There is an outdoor habitat and an indoor habitat that are a ways apart. They are connected only by these telephone wire-looking towers, allowing the orangutans to brachiate between them. I've never actually seen them doing it though until today.

More weekend pics

These were actually taken Saturday as well (Saturday was a very big day). We found a nice little park just north of us.

Georgie loved the swing.

Georgie's newest skill is the High-5, which she is showing off here.

Frying Pan Farm Park

This morning we went to a large park in Fairfax County that is built out of an old farm. It is sort of a living museum of turn-of-the-century farm practices. They have cows, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and rabbits. Georgie loved it all. It was an especially nice time to go because a lot of the animals are starting to have their babies. There were two new calves, 5 new lambs, and 9 new piglets. More sheep and one of the goats are expecting soon. And I think another sow is past her due date. So we'll be going back for sure.

First Georgie had to put her farm outfit on.

It's been weeks since Georgie saw a goat.

Herefords always look angry to me.

Here was a very nice older calf that was with the herefords. It licked Georgie's hand, which she loved.

Milena and Georgie decided to touch each other's noses.

If you notice a certain dreamy quality to these photos, it may be because I found a small fingerprint on the lens. From the size of it, I'm guessing it belongs to an 11-month-old.

Full photo spread is here.

Thursday play time

Nikki didn't like these pictures but she said I could post them. I have still been a little sick so I haven't been joining them for playtimes. I think I'll be ok for the the weekend though. I hope to get started this weekend on some gardening plans.

Doesn't Georgie look tall in that first photo? Something about it just strikes me that she is going to be tall. It might be the lovely yellow pants that were a hand-me-down gift from Milena.
