Two encounters with the authorities, one intentional

Today we headed to the Great Falls main post office to get Georgie a passport. We figured it would be easier than trying to get her pictures done at that woman's house in Conrad. She eventually called me back but wasn't available until tomorrow. So when Nikki got home from school we started down US-89. Somewhere past Fairfield, I met a Montana State Trooper. Apparently I was going 91 in a 70. I told him I thought I was going 85 but that seemed to be the wrong response. The citation was only $40. He started to tell me that I was lucky that....but that then didn't finish his response. Luckily our next stop was the post office, so the check to Cascade County is already in the mail.

One of his questions was whether we were running late for something. We weren't to begin with but after the 25 min. stop we were very much running late. Not that I sped at all the rest of the way to GTF. The passport office closes at 4pm and we walked in at about 4:01 and there was already someone at the counter. The lady was nice enough to let us do the paperwork anyway, though. I think we have Georgie's cute mug to thank for that.

After that, we ran a few errands. We stopped by the Obama office in town to see if they had any car magnets. They were out. There were a lot of staffers in there and they were all on the phone and very busy looking. Next, we popped into In Cahoots For Tea. They were out of our favorite tea (Blue Lady) but we got some plum tea.

Then we went to a few places at the mall to go camera shopping. I've been having a lot of trouble with our camera lately. We've never been happy with it actually. The one we liked broke in Sweden and we had to pay out the wazoo to get another one at Swedish rates. We got a Samsung (S700?). If anyone can recommend a good point and shoot camera, feel free to let us know.

Until we get a new one, here are a few shots using our current camera. In these I was playing around with the anti-shake function, which sometimes helps but usually results in really weird pictures.
