Gardening

We gardened today, for the first time (excluding hops, I guess).` We're watering Rachelle and family's plants while they're gone. Rachelle and Milena planted some marigolds from seed and they were about to outgrow their pots. R really wanted for M to see the plants flower, so she said we could plant them in our front flower bed if we wanted to. As Georgie and I were out planting them this morning, a neighbor came by and offered us her 15 or so marigolds that she didn't have space for. So we planted about 20 plants this morning.

Here's the flower bed before we started.

Georgie was a good gardening companion. She wasn't able to help as much as I thought she could (e.g., when she saw that the plants went into the ground, the first thing she wanted to do was take them back out, even when the dirt was packed around them). She spent most of our gardening time playing on a new riding toy, a hand-me-down from Milena. She likes to "clean" things with a rag, and her car apparently needed a little cleaning.

She hasn't quite figured out how to push with her feet to make it go forward (but she has figured out backward, a little), so she also worked on puting grass in the seat compartment.

A few plants in the ground:

And here is the finished garden.

Not as nice as my mother-in-law's and mother's flower beds, but a start.
