Georgie and I had dinner today at the Mitsitam Cafe at the National Museum of the American Indian. We had a smoked javelina shank and a side of beans, corn, and cholla cactus buds. Georgie liked the javelina a lot and was moderately interested in the salad. I loved the javelina. I found it to be rosier and much more flavorful than pork. If we ever live in the southwest, I would love to hunt these. Georgie already knew about javelinas from her book "Don't Call Me A Pig: A Javelina Story," but this is the first time she's tried the meat from one.
The best part of our trip was that we took the subway. Georgie has learned a new sign for train (basically like a conductor pulling on a whistle) and had a lot of opportunity to use it. We went a very indirect route on the train and she loved every time we came to a station and every time we left. After the museum we took the yellow line to the airport and watched the some planes. But we were both a little tired so we called Nikki to pick us up.
Earlier in the day, while I was taking a nap, Georgie and Nikki went to Theodore Roosevelt Island. I'll let her tell you about it:

I realized this morning that we've never taken Georgie down to look at the Potomac and its nearby trails, so we decided to go. The first parking lot I pulled into was the lot to walk across the bridge to the TR Island. We didn't stay long, but Georgie liked looking at the kayaks in the Potomac and all the kids, dogs, and bicyclists around. It's also near enough to Reagan airport that there were planes constantly flying over, which she loved too. Pics were with my phone, sorry for the poor quality.
