Udvar-Hazy

Today we took Georgie to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum. We are trying to support Georgie's burgeoning interest in aviation. Her interest consists of pointing at airplanes and doing her airplane hand sign, which is sort of like a bird flying. It also looks like a hand waving, and when we first walked into the hangar a bunch of people we're waving at her. It took my a second to realize that they thought she was waving to them. I didn't correct them.

The Concorde from above.

Escape plan of the Space Shuttle Enterprise.

It's off camera but that's the Joint Strike Fighter that Georgie's checking out.

Here's a MiG-21 Fishbed.

And finally, here's a video of us watching an actual plane land at Dulles. The coolest part of the Udvar-Hazy Center is the flight observation tower (see first picture), where you can watch actual air traffic at Dulles. Unfortunately we didn't know this closed before the rest of the museum so we missed it. But at least Georgie saw this plane land from outside.
