Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! Here's a picture of a peacock we found in our yard. She was pretty cute so we decided to take her trick-or-treating.

Georgie is almost never out after dark. So I think the holiday lived up to its spooky reputation. We stopped at 2 houses (including Milena's) and then headed home.

Milena was a ladybug and had a good candy-distribution method going.

A Couple Pictures

From yesterday or maybe day before and today.

She's been saying "thank you" a lot lately (most times in the appropriate context, like when I give her something) and last night she was naming everything in the room and saying "nice" after it ("window nice"; "papa knee nice"; "floor nice"). She's also been using a lot of 3-word sentences/phrases ("Georgie in swing"). Lots of fun.

Saturday post-rain stroll

We had a lot of rain today but when it finally cleared we went for a long walk with the new jogging stroller. The weather seemed like a good reason to debut one of her new UT tracksuits anyway. It's game day after all. After the stroller portion of the walk, we let the little longhorn out to splash around in the puddles, one of her favorite activities.

For some reason Georgie is obsessed with bird baths. She knows birds drink from them and loves to talk about it. So we always have to stop and look.

Autumn stroll

The leaves are changing here and we just bought our first jogging stroller. So it was a good day for a walk. Plus Georgie is a little under the weather, so it was good for her to get some fresh air. We walked past parts of our neighborgood that we normally only drive by and noticed some hidden gems. Chief among them is a Turkish grocery and restaurant that we had no idea was there. We'll have to go out to eat there soon. Nikki has been holding out for a few months for a used stroller of a specific fancy brand. Darla found one on Craigslist and Nikki was convinced that she could do the same. Finally though, Nikki allowed me to by the cheapest model at the toy store. We are very happy with it, especially Georgie.

Monday at the zoo

Monday morning we headed to the San Antonio Zoo -- the zoo of record as far as my childhood memories are concerned. They have a new butterfly enclosure that Georgie really liked.
Here she is considering an owl-eye camoflauged butterfly. She had a lot of fun chasing the butterflies around (nicely) and commenting on their colors. Also she told each one of them, "I see you."
They had these machines when I was a kid and I can't believe they still do. In fact, they seem to have even more of them. They are little miniature plastic factories that mold different animals while you watch and then spit them out still hot. Georgie wound up with four of the animals.

We found these tilapia (in their rare, unfilleted form) and Georgie and Grandpapa fed them.

Georgie pondering the presents Grandpapa got here, including some cool new shades.

Sunday

Here's a few pictures from Sunday. We took Georgie to a park near my parents' house. She had a lot of fun with Nana and Uncle Adam playing and doing a nature walk. Meanwhile, as Adam mentioned previously, Nikki and I got to sit on a park bench and read a little. It was really nice for all three of us. Georgie has been incredibly stimulated by all the family around. She is going to be a little bored when we get home and she realizes it's just the three of us.

At dinner Sunday night, Georgie insisted on eating corn on the cob by herself.

She was quite proud of herself.

Playing in the backyard

Here are some pictures of Georgie playing with sand and flowers in the backyard. I used Adam's camera, which is much nicer than ours.
