Today we went to the DC Turkish Festival, held on Freedom Plaza near the White House. There was live music, food, dancing, shopping, and crafts for kids. Nikki and I took Turkish together at UT so it's kind of our thing. We'd love to study it again. In fact, Nikki found out that one of the American Turkish Association representatives has a two year old son and she tried to start a bilingual playgroup with him. He was non-committal but invited us to some Turkish lessons.
Georgie enjoyed the yogurt drink called Ayran. Nikki and I also each had a helping of döner kebap, some Cola Turka, and some Turkish delight.
Here we are petting a very nice (and very large) Anatolian Shepherd (Çoban Köpeği), the national dog of Turkey.
The highlight of the festival was Georgie making a bracelet with a Turkish evil eye on it.
She also did a glue and colored sand picture of Atatürk.
Starting at the end of the year, we are going to do two new things with the blog:
1. Password protect this blog 2. Start a new blog, with a new web host.
We haven't exactly figured out the second part. The first part is sort of an attempt to protect Georgie's privacy a little more. The reason I am posting this notice here is that you'll need me to send you an invite to read it after that. Most of you we already know to do this for, but just in case, please e-mail me (Aaron) and remind me to add you to the list.
