This afternoon we decided to take a little drive west from Dupuyer. We headed down Dupuyer Creek Road, which is the southern perimeter road of town and heads west all the way to the mountains. We made it about 8 miles before the road had too many mud grooves (we were in the Versa).
On our way out we passed the turn-off for the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch. This is a apparently a private research ranch and wildlife conservation area. It's run by an organization, the Boone and Crocket Club, that was founded by TR himself. I'm not sure if any of it is open to the public, but if so we intend to go check it out.
Maybe tomorrow when Nikki gets home we'll take the Swift Dam Road, which is just north of town and also heads west, ending in a mountain reservoir.
Oh by the way, the reason we were in the Versa is that we started in our rental Rav4 and about four warning lights, including Check Engine, came on. Our service light came on weeks ago but Hertz said no big deal. Perhaps they didn't know that we were putting thousands of miles on it. We called them (they are in Great Falls) and they are bringing us a new Rav4 tomorrow. How's that for service?
On an unrelated note, Georgie took several teaspoons of rice cereal tonight and seems to like it. She cleaned her plate actually. Saturday, when my parents are here, we'll be introducing sweet potatoes. That should be fun for all.
