Yesterday Georgie and I had a kind of rough day. Georgie started crying pretty hard and nothing would get her to stop. She finally got to sleep but woke up after about 20 minutes, still ornery. She took a little bit of a bottle and cheered up and by the time mom got home she looked like the happiest baby in the world again.
Still, I needed a little distraction and we both decided that Georgie needed some faster flow nipples, so we went to Great Falls. I was also looking for some boots that would withstand weather and terrain better than my current city slicker Beatle boots. I thought I would get some typical Texas-style pull-on ropers, but found that I actually liked more of a western-style boot better. I ended up getting nothing but sized myself for Justin boots and will probably order some online soon or get some this weekend.
The first place we went was an incredible store called Big R. It's the farm and ranch version of Target. They had everything you can imagine for rural life -- boots and apparel, fencing, huge buckets of cow antibiotic. THey even had a toy section of all farm toys.
At Target, we also got Georgie an electronic keyboard. More on that from Nikki coming soon.
Finally, due to her lack of a good nap during the day yesterday, Georgie slept the entire way to GTF and most of the way back. We got back about 7:30 and that meant that we couldn't get Georgie to sleep until 10 or so last night, which meant that she got several hours less sleep than usual. So she's a bit grumpy today. But we'll get back on track. We definitely won't be making any hasty trips to GTF this afternoon
The next few days we'll be getting the apartment ready. Saturday we are hauling 2ooo gallons of water to fill the cistern out back. There have been problems with the well in our 100-year old building and we decided to use hauled water instead. It will be a good exercise in being thrifty with a natural resource. We are also bringing some furniture over.
Then Saturday afternoon we are headed to the other side of the mountains. We are staying at a lodge just north of the Flathead Lake. Our room has a fireplace and a jacuzzi so I don't know how much sight-seeing we'll get done. Sunday we are going to see Chanda and Derek and also try to squeeze in a trip to the Kalispell Costco. Then it's back over the mountains for what will hopefully be our first night spent in Dupuyer.
Then the following weekends my parents and my brother Kevin are coming for a quick visit. We'll probably enter Glacier Park with them and do some kind of hike or something. I think the park facilities will be closed by then but we should still be able to find something to do.
