Today Georgie and I went over to Sue's for tea and then we went out for lunch. I totally forgot to take pictures ... I really would have liked to get one of Georgie and Sue. Georgie loves her! She's met her a few times now, and about once weekly for the past 3 weeks or so, and I think she's starting to recognize her voice (last time I was on the phone with her, Georgie was smiling and looking excitedly at the phone). She smiled at Sue right away, and when we went up to her apartment, Georgie leaned toward her with her arms extended after being there for just a few minutes. I was very proud of my George. She was in a new place but she felt comfortable enough that she wanted Sue to hold her. So Sue did. This was very different from last week, when our neighbors invited us in and one of the moms was holding her and she started crying (it was a hectic household, though -- 3 kids running around and the dad also running around, with an electric fly swatter -- I should have known to hold her longer). And a few days ago I went to a different neighbor's house and, after Georgie got comfortable there, I let the neighbor hold her. Georgie leaned toward me with arms extended almost right away, so I held her. SO I was very happy with how today went. Georgie also nursed while we talked (also unusual ... lately she prefers to eat in the dark while I rock her; she insists on it in fact ... I was sitting in a rocking chair at Sue's, though) and then slept while we continued talking (usually she needs total silence and darkness to sleep ... or else lots of noise and being outside).
Anyway, we had a really nice afternoon. We went to one of my favorite cafes in Dupont, a favorite from when I lived here last time. It's unseasonably cool here, and we sat on the patio out back and ate. Georgie had fun playing with her toys on the table and watching people and bicycles (which she loves) go by.
In other social news ... last night G & I went to see Rachelle and family, but we didn't stay long because we got there late in the evening. And Georgie was hungry but wouldn't eat -- too many fun people to watch, and too much new stuff to look at. I knew if I stayed she'd end up being overtired and overhungry and would have a hard time falling asleep. Georgie and Milena (who's almost exactly one year older than G) smiled at each other for quite a while when they first saw each other -- it was so cute. And Georgie was really interested in watching Milena. Milena was really interested in playing catch with Georgie; her throwing force is a little excessive, but her aim is off, so Georgie was pretty safe. We're hoping to see them again tomorrow. I'm so excited that they're here, even though our visits have been kinda short, and for Georgie to meet a little buddy.
